..........LOOKS BACK...........

This is the last week of 2017.This year is the best year i have ever spent.Because i could enter this university.As i think it is the best university in srilanka.So when i think passed few months all i remember is happy memories,good memories and rearely so scary memories because of our seniors.....

We started PPD sessions also in the first semester. At the first day we had to come in front of the class and introduce ourselves for about 4 minutes. On that day we got to know about every body. From that day onward we did various activities.

In this ppd session we had lot of fun games,team games,individual games,indoor outdoor games ect...


And we had to create a creative blog for each activity.But unfortunately i could't participate for all of the activities...PPD session was something very important which helped us to improve our selves. When I looked back I am very happy to being a part of it....

                                             ........ LAVA RIVER..........





It is a team game.We had to cross a imaginery lava river.Actually there wasn't a river or lava.We had to imagne and then we had to cross it.
First we were divided into 3 groups.That was to cross an imaginary lava river using 4 sheets of card boards or tiles. We cannot touch lava or cannot loose any human touch with  tiles. If  any tile loosed human touch that tile was taken away. The group which passes all the team members with the minimum time was considered as the winners.
First we had five minutes for discuss about how to cross faster.In first round we played well and it was easy to do. Because we didn't have any  rules.We just wanted to cross the river. So we completed it easily.But in the second round it was so hard.In second round we had some point marks through the river.So we wanted to cross that marks for get points.And we couldn't go one by one.All of the group must go together to the other side of the river.And the biggest problem was we had only five minutes for cross the river.
So nobody could complete that round.Because we didn't have  a proper plan for cross the river with in given time.But we enjoyed it much........

 UNIVERSITY OF KELANIYA

University of Kelaniya is a one of the government university in Sri Lanka. It was started in1875 as the Vidyalankara Pirivena , after in 1959 became Vidyalankara Campus and in 1978 become as the University of Kelaniya.

                                                        ...........BARTER PUZZLE...........

          

                     Barter system,actually what is barter system???

               In the ancient times there wasn't any standard currency for buying and selling things.This has been used for centuries. People exchange services and goods for other services and goods in return.

               According to this system we had been given a teamwork in our ppd session.It was a little bit hard.First,all our classmates were divided into three groups.Then our madam asked us to appoint a group leader an assistant.Then she gave us a A4 size colored paper.Then she asked our leader and the assistant to tear that paper into 100 pieces.But no two of them should be in same size.

             Then she collected 10 pieces from each group and mixed them.From that mixed 30 pieces each group was given a 10 mixed pieces.Then she asked us to solve that torn colored paper puzzle within given time.

             It was really hard.Because there were 90 pieces.They were in our colored paper.But other 10 pieces were mixed.So we really hard to find what are ours and what are the others.

         So we decided to keep the mixed ten pieces in our leader's hand and we solve the puzzle using other 90 pieces until it's impossible.Then we have to asked from other groups weather are there pieces that don't belongs to you.When they say yes,we didn't have pieces that they need.So it was really hard.But finally in the time we got our team could finished the puzzle.But not all the pieces.We had only 99 pieces.We could't find out our other pieces in the time period.

    

     However this was a really hard but it was really interesting game..This was our  finished puzzle using 99 pieces....

 

   However this taught us very good lessons.First thing was team work.How to behave as a team when it is necessary.And how to negotiate with others.How to ask something from others....
     Finally the only thing i feel was,currency is necessary for buying or selling anything.Unless it gets so hard.And may be we are unable to get what we exactly need........

           

WHAT I HAVE LEARNT 

               this wasn't just a another lecture.this was a help for all my friends to get fun ,to present their own opinions,to feel about the team work etc.

  

               our lecturer was a very kind intelligent and interesting lecturer .she always encourage us to do something different.in this time period we could develop our,

              * personal abilities,

              * work as a team,

              * leadership skills, 

              * communication skills,

              * time management,

              * well planning,

     more than skill development,we have lot of fun.we had great times to spend with others happily,talk with them,laugh with them.

     in this time we had both indoor and out door activities .we had to get responsibilities to do our task well.but i couldn't participate everyday for that session.i think it is the worst mistake i have ever made.this is end of our ppd session......

paper tower

                                                   PAPER TOWER 

       this was our teamwork.here we had to create a tower using papers.at there our class members were divided into 3 groups.8 members for one group. 

      first materials; 

               * 12 A4 papers for one group,

               * 1 cellotape,

               * scissors..

    we have to create our tower including following qualities.

              

              * it should be the tallest tower among others,

              * it should be straight,

              * it should be stable.

but,there was a one rule also,

            

              * we should use materials other than provided.

time duration,

          

            * 45 minutes.

         first of all i want to say you this is not my own story.because i couldn't participate for that teamwork.so i asked about this from my friends,and i search the internet and get information about paper tower,and thus brief description about how my friends create paper tower ,and how they explain it to me......

          this was a teamwork.so first thing they have done is discussing,and look for what are the other things they may need...so there in main group they were divided into sub groups for increasing efficiency.some worked on basement and some worked on the top of the paper tower....

      as my friend said,they were able to finish their task on time.he said that he has done team works and team games  before.as he said he learnt so many things in this teamwork.

                 * listen to the others,

                 * do your part best,

                 * plan before engage,

                 * think differently.

        actually this was a game.i couldn't ask him how are the winners.but he said that and i accept it,

                    ... participation is worthy than victory...

THINK LIKE A TEAM IS BETTER THAN  THINK WITH ALONE.BECAUSE YOU CAN'T SURVIVE WITH ALONE.

what is ppd???

               ppd stands for personal progress development..

that means we should have our own personality.that is our identity,the way seen by others.

      according to my knowledge it is the most simplest definition..

    So,there are so many things us to improve under this topic.Basically these are called soft skills.

what are soft skills???

              It is simply can be said that interpersonal and intra-personal skills.

 Following are some examples for soft skills...

              * communication skills.

              * teamwork and collaboration.

              * adaptability.

              * problem solving.

Communication skills...

  this doesn't mean that you should be a brilliant orator or writer.

It means you have to express yourself well.

teamwork and collaboration...

            As humans,and also living beings,everyone should be able to work with others as a team,together.Sometimes you could be the leader.Sometimes you can be a good follower.

Adaptability...

            Today world is changing so quickly.If you can't adapt it we cannot survive.So we have to improve our adaptability.

                                                                 

                       

problem solving...

             As a living beings everyone have to face problems and have to find good answers for them.In addition,by solving problems it becomes our experience.So that experience is useful for our life.

    

    

              In addition to those examples,presenting skills,critical observation,conflict resolution are also can be classified as soft skills...

             Finally we can say soft skills are directly help us to develop our personal progress .As i think personal progress development is just not a so simple thing.We have to identify what are the skills we have and what are the skills we have to gather to our life.And we have to improve them for our whole life.Most of the times it happens automatically.and the personal progress is  a endless development.Actually it doesn't have a end.Because it develops even without our feeling.

                  ...SO BE A PERSON WITH A GREAT PERSONALITY...
