SELF REFLECTION

...SELF REFLECTION...

We had a PPD session  at there we were asked to take selfies, but only five. Then madam asked "what do you see?"
Most of friends said nothing including myself. It was just a another selfie. But because of the low light it was not a good one. That what i thought. But madam's extension wasn't it.She wanted us to think what we have done past few years.

We need to assess ourselves everyday, and have a self reflection more often.Reflection helps to realize whether what we are doing it the right way and whether we are doing it because it makes us happy.

So what is self reflection

Human self-reflection is the capacity of humans to exercise introspection and the willingness to learn more about their fundamental nature, purpose and essence. The earliest historical records demonstrate the great interest which humanity has had in itself. (Wikipedia)

That is the definition in Wikipedia. But actually we also have our own definitions.Mine is "think past and see what have you done, what were your strong areas, make them more stronger and go forward"

May be it is stupid. But we have to always think our past because may be you think that your not strong enough to face current situation, issues. But thinking about your past give you strength, and confident.

Benefits of Self Reflection

1. Strengthening Emotional Intelligence
2. Acting With Integrity
3.  Being More Confident
   THANK YOU!!!

FACING AN REAL INTERVIEW

 REAL INTERVIEW EXPERIENCE

29th of june. The date i most scared. It wasn't real, but it was real.Actually we had to face an interview, even though our mates were in  as the interview board i was very nervous.Because it was first time i face to an interview. But it gave me lot of experiences.

First we were divided into groups. Then we were given some time to practice.  then the five participants group were grouped into  elements that three of them have been make the interview and two of them had been the job seekers. then the four members institution have been separated once again into  components but this time  participants as activity seekers and other two had been interviewing human beings.

Then the people who were interviewing other  requested questions based totally on what we learnt at our last ppd consultation. including,
  • Tell about yourself
  • What do you know about our company?
  • Why we hire you?
  • Do you have anything to ask?
& etc

Most of us including myself made mistakes, may be because it was our first interview. But i think my friends and myself learn how to face an interview. It not so easy, but not so hard either.Because it is also like an question paper.Only different is it ls like online question paper. We have to answer it as soon as possible, but politely and correctly.

What i learn through this task
  •  prepare yourself before everything
  • don't underestimate yourself
  • practice as possible as you can

THANK YOU!!!

PAPER PLANE

 PAPER PLANE

Paper plane is first task we did in second level in ppd session. All our friends were divided into two groups. There were only eight members for each group.First we were given 6 blue papers,Others were given 6 yellow papers. We had to make as mush as possible using those papers. We were given  minutes, but we spent about half and hour.

The task does not finish there. She marked a line on the bottom and challenged USA to send all of them across the road. we have a tendency to got regarding twenty minutes to return up with a technique and build the paper rockets.

Mistakes that we realized :
  • not everyone took part in making the plane and we were divided into sub groups among ourselves.
  • we couldn't make make more planes within the given time although we had papers remaining.
  • we made many fouls when throwing the planes and our planes were wasted.
  • The most important thing is we didn't take the activity seriously.

Our strategy and learning outcomes :

Before we tend to utilized the papers given by madam, we tend to did a handful of check runs with rockets of variable sizes with another paper. She ne'er mentioned we tend to cannot use different papers for a shot ! We realized that terribly little rockets would be exhausting to send up so we tend to in agreement on creating vi rockets out of 1 paper. it absolutely was the right size and would fly a extended distance. Since we tend to had quite an smart strategy and arrange we tend to had a while left throughout that we tend to adorned the rockets with some drawings We selected the most effective 2 those who may send the rockets the furthest All in all it absolutely was a decent and exciting activity that required the eye and collaboration of all team members.

THANK YOU!!!!

TRUST WALK

TRUST WALK

This is somewhat difficult and different task. This also an another amazing activity in PPD  which gave us more important things. In this session we were instructed to cover the eyes of the partner. The other person had to give instructions to the blind person about the obstacles, paths, where to turn. So there the one person played the role of a listener and one played the role of an instructor. The instructor should navigate the listener to the final destination. This activity had two rounds where the listener of the first round became the instructor in the second round and vice versa.

This activity is based on trust. The blindfolded person has to trust the navigator and be a good listener. On the other hand, then navigator has the responsibility of leading the way right and giving right directions and methods to overcome the obstacles.

When we continue the way we needed to go over stair situations where we needed to educate the visually impaired individual with the no. of steps and where to stop. There were white board markers on the way and on the off chance that someone put the leg on it, the person may fall. That is the reason we were told to listen the educator well. At the first round we needed to come the way and tap a block. While in the second round we needed to tap on two solid squares and the block. In the first round all most every one of the understudies strolled and tap the block with the right guidelines. Be that as it may, at the second round a few understudies overlooked what to do. Some neglected to tap on the block in the wake of tapping he solid squares.
In this activity blind person also should give the maximum support to the achieve target goal.He shouldn't do what he wants.Instructor also should have an ability to give right direction to the listener and when listener is not in the correct path instructor should correct him.All of these things are really needed when we are living in the society.

THANK YOU!!!

EXPERT GAME

EXPERT GAME...

This was completely different activity. We were asked to group and we were instructed to think in which way we are expert. There were so many things. There were 4 groups. We were asked to pick 3 areas that the all members are specialized in.Then the task was to come up with an innovative product which can be implemented with those specialized 3 areas. How do we combine 3 areas into one.Madam said that it shouldn't be a big product. Finally we came up with an idea.It was a cricket game.

Following are the product ideas my class mates have came up.

Team 1
Areas: Handmade things, Bike riding, Reading
       Product: Eye glass cover

Team 2
      Areas: Taekwondo, Painting, Gaming
      Product: Taekwondo video game

Team 3
      Areas: Gaming, Chess, Painting
      Product: Chess video game

Team 4
       Areas: Cricket, Painting, Gaming
       Product: Cricket video game

Then we have to present it.Team 1 was the winning team. But end of the day madam explained that all the teams were not successful because they didn't do what was she expected. Some some mistakes were there in all the teams. However as it was a group activity we all had to work collaboratively.

                                                                              THANK YOU!!!

VISIT TO WSO2

VISIT TO WSO2-TECHNICAL WRITING WORKSHOP

It's the beginning of a new semester.September 12th 2018.We went to the WSO2. One of the biggest software company in srilanka. They planned to begin the session at 9:00 am.They warmly welcomed us.The technical writing crew was so good and so friendly for us.First they introduce them self and what the technical writing is.
The session was conducted by 3 technical writers at WSO2 and was done in 3 stages namely : Introduction to technical writing, technical writing as a career and grammar lab.
Most of the times workshops get boring by the time. But the technical writing crew at WSO2 did a game associated with the workshop which everyone actively and happily participated. The winners were given very attractive gifts like t-shirts and chocolates. And also they provided us refreshments.Actually as SE undergraduates,it is essential to learn about the industry.By having a workshops like this  in companies,it make us to adapt to the professional background.

Technical writing is the area in the field of Software Engineering that involves the writing of user manuals. A user manual needs to be simple enough to be understood by a user who does not have a thorough knowledge in the underlying technology. It's a challenging position because the writer needs to know about the technology and be concerned about the user at the same time.

It was a great opportunity.Thank for giving us this kind of experience madam.

THANK YOU!!!

HOW TO FACE AN INTERVIEW

Image result for how to face an interview

An interview is a conversation where questions are asked and answers are given.Facing  an interview is somewhat different than usual conversations. They are professional. So everyone who is willing to face an interview have to practice some kind of practices.

1.You should search about the company/organization  that you are going to face an interview

First thing is applying to a suitable job. Then only you can go for an interview to that particular job position. So,before we going to that interview first thing is search about the company. Because we want to let the interview board that we are interesting about the their company.

2.Ask a small question from them

We can ask some small question from them. But we shouldn't ask about the salary.

3.Introduce yourself properly

We have to introduce about our self to the interview board. We shouldn't tell about our personal things too much.

4.We should reach the place before at least 10 minutes

If we are going to that place before the interview we can prepare our self like go to the washroom, comb our hair etc.

5.Dress professionally

It is better if we can wear a light color dress. And we should comb our hair properly. For a girl it is better a small high heel. For a boy wear a office shoes.

If a girl needs to have nail polish, use a light color.

6.Thank the interview board

After finish the interview we must thank the interview board. And if there are any rubbish things are on the table like piece of  paper we must take them with us.If not it can be harmful for us.
But before an interview if you have an interview on skype, you should properly. ..
